At its heart, Our Common Heart celebrates shared humanity, upholds education as a liberating force, and nurtures a more compassionate and conscious way of being. In a world often marked by division, distraction, and relentless striving, it offers a gentle invitation to pause, reflect, deepen our awareness, and reconnect with what truly matters.

The Bowerbird Collection is central to OCH and is the main repository of reflections, wisdom and ideas. It is a collection of Wayne’s writings divided into 3 books: Awakening to Our Common Heart, Living Our Common Heart and Educating for Our Common Heart. It is a living collection with new material being added as reading and reflection come to maturity.
The Writings, Talks and Reflections section features a mix of archived work such as ‘Touchstones’, past speeches and short stories that relate to themes in The Bowerbird Collection.
The Deep Dive Podcasts also relate to key themes in the Collection. Spanish versions are also included.
Occasionally, a Blog Piece will be added to the website to highlight key themes and new contributions to The Bowerbird Collection.

But more important is his commitment to social justice, equality, the empowerment of people, and the spreading of the Gospel message of love, inclusivity, justice, and peace. Wayne’s devotion to spreading Edmund Rice’s belief in and work with the poor resonates profoundly in our troubled world today.
As a teacher and leader always seeking to make sense of my own role and purpose, I have regularly found resonance in Wayne’s reflections. I am often struck by his ability to use personal story to engage. Sometimes I can even see the image I think was in his mind when he wrote those words! When I read and re-read Wayne’s reflections, I find real gold – the stuff that makes me pause to take a breath. I see beyond that initial picture that Wayne painted – I start seeing my own version of the image, or even, a whole new picture altogether.
I have journeyed with Wayne as a learning leader for 20 years. His wisdom is informed by relationships, humility and wonder. His leadership is informed by service, story and faith. His teaching is expressed in a deeply human, accessible and invitational way. Wayne is a walker of the talk and a living example of the struggle and joy of searching for a Gospel-integrated life.
